Over 60% of Nigeria’s population is under the age of 25. This significant demographic implies that the nation’s future trajectory is heavily dependent on its youth. Therefore, it is imperative that we invest in positive youth development.

Our rising youth population presents several challenges across five key transition areas:

1. Education: Ensuring quality secondary and post-secondary education and skills development opportunities.
2. Employment: Providing demand-driven skills, enabling enterprise, and promoting quality self-employment.
3. Health: Facilitating access to health services and promoting healthy behaviours.
4. Social Mobility: Enhancing opportunities for upward social movement.
5. Active Citizenship: Encouraging participation in civic and community activities.

To positively impact and transform the lives of Nigerian youth, FIT Africa is introducing the “Acing Youth Development Webinar” to empower change agents dedicated to youth empowerment in these strategic areas.

The webinar will focus on four thematic areas:

1. Asset: Strategies to enable our youth to become more valuable by acquiring both internal and external assets.
2. Agency: Enhancing the capacity of our youth to make independent choices and effect change, empowering their free will and self-determination.
3. Contributions: Encouraging youth involvement in community and civic activities.
4. Enabling Environment: Exploring strategic opportunities in social, normative, structural, and physical spheres to support youth development.
