Best described as a transformative leader, Femi Taiwo (F.T) is an award-winning social entrepreneur and development strategist who is on a personal mission of facilitating the transformation of individuals, organisations, and nations. Femi is the Managing Partner of Facilitating Impact & Transformation (FIT) Africa, a fast-growing international development consultancy serving global private and social sector partners to deliver on their impact objectives in Africa. Femi served recently on the global exco of Trace TV, leading the group’s e-learning division (TRACE Academia). In this role, he was accountable for the division’s team and success across Africa and Europe.
Femi Taiwo was the Executive Director of LEAP Africa, a youth-focused leadership development organisation. He led the organisation through unprecedented growth in impact, influence, and income across the African continent over a six-year period. In this role, Femi designed and delivered highly impactful pan-African youth interventions, including the Youth Day of Service (YDoS) that has engaged over 7000 youth across 24 African countries to execute hundreds of localised SDG projects that have served millions of beneficiaries. As part of his career journey, Femi worked as the founding Executive Director of H.O.P.E Foundation; co-led innovative initiatives and multi-channel marketing projects in GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals; and carried out consulting assignments across Africa and the United Kingdom.
Over the past decade, Femi has led and advised various initiatives and programmes focused on a range of international development themes. As a result, He has had the privilege to master and deploy a wide range of capabilities including: programme management, grant making, grant management, curriculum development, stakeholder management, partnership and coalition building, e-learning design and delivery, organisational development, leadership development, training facilitation, positive youth development, institutional strengthening, systems thinking, knowledge production, strategy development and delivery, tri-sector partnership development, and fundraising. Femi’s work experience includes serving as a project lead, trainer, or key resource person to a range of private, public, and social sector partners including Ford Foundation,Mastercard Foundation, Citi Foundation, African Union, United Nations Global Compact, Bank of Industry, British Council, McArthur Foundation, USAID SCALE, Technoserve, and Covenant University.
Femi Taiwo is a 2018 Aspen Institute IdeasFest Scholar, a Praxis Accelerator Alum, and was part of the inaugural class of the Obama Africa Leaders Programme. Femi is a recipient of the Junior Achievement Youth Ambassador Award. He serves as the Co-Chair of the Nigeria Youth Future Fund (a 5-million dollar fund set up by Ford Foundation and McArthur Foundation to support young Nigerian change makers), and has served on various Boards including the United Nations Global Compact, Nigeria among others. He holds a MSc. in Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship from Manchester Business School, where he focused his research on Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship. F.T completed his Bachelor’s degree at Covenant University, where he earned a first class degree in Computer Science, and has completed executive programs in Harvard Business School.Â
